FISH STOCKING Fall is here and what a beautiful season we are having. Fall also brings us to our next fish stocking. This year we plan to stock a year class of Hybrid Stripers and some Small Mouth Bass, and in the spring we will stock Trout again.
FISHING CONTESTS Our annual fishing contest ended on August 10, 2007. Congratulations to all of this year's winners. We had over 100 entries this year, and awarded fifty-six prizes. See list of winners under the Fishing Club tab. Remember we have two entry categories: age 1- 15 yrs & 16 years and older. Please bring your entries to any of the listed weigh-in stations.
Fishing club events to take place this summer include our 2nd annual Buddy Bass Contest on June 28, 2008, and the Kid’s Sun Fish Contest on July 5, 2008. We will also have a Fishing Seminar for adults and kids to show anyone interested in how to get the BIG ONE! If interested, please contact me at earleworth@yahoo.com. Remember, our fishing contest runs all year until Aug. 8, 2008. The club also plans to build more fish habitats and install them in the spring.
FISH DISEASES (Very Important - Please Read)
Please be aware that some lakes in New York and New Jersey have to deal with two different types of fish disease. One is the VHS disease which will attack all species of fish. The other is the Large Mouth Bass Virus. We need everyone to help keep these diseases from coming into our lake. The easiest ways to spread the diseases are catching fish in one location and releasing them in another, using infected bait fish, and not cleaning your boat properly after use in another body of water. Please note instructions on proper cleaning and how to help stop the spread of these diseases under the Fishing Club tab
FISHING LICENSES
Remember your fishing license needs to be renewed by January 1, 2008; you will also need to buy a trout stamp with your license if you want to keep any trout we stock in the lake.
In closing I would like to take time to thank all our members and friends who gave so generously to the fishing club this year. Without your help we could not continue to make this lake the best fishing lake in the state.
Good Luck, and see you on the ICE.
